Albuca humilis
Plant Type:
BULBSAlbuca humilis (ex: Seneca Hill Perennials) - This is a shorter growing Albuca from a surprisingly large bulb with quite large flowers. From the center of the cylindrical leaves emerges a stem upon which the buds cluster at the tip. The interior of each cupped floret is white, yellow-tipped with all tepal reverses sharply defined in deep green with white margins. Ellen Hornig collected this seed from Naude's Nek from high in the Drakensberg - a region that is somewhat comparable to a coldish USDA zone 7. Ellen believes that this little gem is probably hardy in USDA Zone 6... still to be tested outdoors. But it is easy in containers. Sun. Summer moist and draining, winter dry. Clumping. These may be potted or arrive bare root... but more likely potted!
