Arisaema sikokianum ''pattern selection''
Japanese Cobra Lily
Plant Type:
BULBSArisaema sikokianum "pattern selection" - An elegant Jack in the Pulpit or Japanese Cobra Lily. Leaves are trifoliate with each side leaf often divided into two affording a look of five leaflets per leaf stem. Each leaflet is green with irregular silver flames at their hearts. Wonderful. The flowers are exceptional. The outer color of the "vase" that surrounds the spadix is rich purple-mahogany. The large knob-shaped spadix peers out from the vase and is brightly contrasting in milky white as is the interior of the vase. The erect, sometimes slightly decumbent blade-shaped hood ends in a point and is striped white with a mix of olive green and / or brown-purple. Japanese Cobra Lily or Japanese Dragon Arum may erupt as early as March in warmer climes but as late as July in the north. Late season dense and showy heads of red berries extend interest when the spadices are pollinated. Rich moisture retentive soil. Shade. Pot grown bulb.
