Allium crenulatum
Olympic Onion
Plant Type:
BULBSAllium crenulatum – is the Olympic Onion. A very nice small-growing species, not commonly offered from the Pacific Northwest with gorgeous rosy purple flowers – more intensely colored at the petal tips, whiter towards the inner parts of each flower. It flowers late May to July. The strap-shaped leaves are often serpentine and when grown lean in full blazing sun are sometimes infused with violet-purple. Site Allium crenulatum in full sun planted in any average well-draining garden soil. This is small enough for a trough and would be perfectly happy in the rock garden. If ordered in autumn your Allium will arrive as dormant potted bulbs.

Genus Overview: Allium
The Ornamental Onions are a large group with many garden-worthy species. We’ve selected some that have performed well for us. Most require full to nearly full sun in most any average garden soil. The addition of lime is helpful in acid soils. All our Alliums are offered as pot-grown flowering-sized bulbs from our stock plants.
