Ypsilandra thibetica

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Ypsilandra thibetica This cool, rare member of the Liliaceae is a part sun/part shade perennial from China. The narrow dark green blades of foliage formed into a rosette arise 5” to 8” which are actually reminiscent of an internode of any among the myriad bulb lilies. Short stems are topped with fragrant, shaggy but symmetrical bottlebrush flowers that age to pink. The white florets exhibit anthers in a rich blue-purple shade. Beautiful! The attractive flowers occur in late winter down south or early spring in Ypsilandra’s northern range. Foliage may pick up respectable reddish tones when weather cools. It will ground cover albeit slowly in fertile humus-laden soil. This is a choice perennial. Pot grown division.
