Wisteria macrostachya 'Blue Moon'

American Wisteria

Plant Type:

VINES

Wisteria macrostachya 'Blue Moon' - The first main flush of long dangling racemes of fragrant blue flowers begins in June. There are usually two more recurrent bloom periods during the course of the summer. Some horticulturists believe this species to be W. frutescens var. macrostachya as there are only subtle distinctions between the two and, therefore, may not warrant a different species designation. 'Blue Moon' is, nevertheless, a beautiful vine in bud and flower. The dark green foliage is handsome. It is slightly less rambunctious than its Asian counterparts. Wisterias are always splendid on a pergola or any strong support from which the dangling flowers and its lovely scent can be appreciated. Site in full sun planted in fertile draining soil to which a handful of lime has been added. Cutting grown.
