Forsythia x intermedia 'Fiesta'
Forsythia
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSForsythia x intermedia 'Fiesta' - Winter gold-yellow stems brushed with a warm red zone explode into deep, saturated yellow flowers in early spring which swamp the shrub in molten sun - it's a glorious solid yellow mound. Bright yellow leaves emerge soon thereafter and mature with green margins sequestering the golden hearts. The following new stems exhibit rich crimson upon the gold adding another dimension of visual impact. All this on a relatively compact, mounding grower with a plethora of vertical stems. The deer don't like it but the bees do! Forget about the basic solid green-leaved monstrosity whose only season of interest is a few weeks in spring when it flowers, 'Fiesta' ups the ante year round... well, perhaps only modestly in winter but still! Easy in full sun in average to fertile draining ground. Established potted Forsythia from cutting.
