Ajuga incisa 'Bikun' ('Frosted Jade') - This unusual species of Ajuga displays incised leaves of medium green are broadly and irregularly edged in creamy yellow. The spring flowers are a deep, rich beautiful shade of purple-blue and no doubt as attractive to hummingbirds as its more common and colonizing cousin Bugleweed, Ajuga reptans. The bees certainly appreciate it. Unlike its rampant cousin the Giant Bugle is a clumping perennial and completely deciduous. Site 'Bikun' in part sun, dappled to open shade in fertile, moist soil. 'Bikun' is probably going to be a doer in USDA zone 5b where sheltered and mulched. If ordered in autumn your Ajuga will arrive cut back prepared for the long winter's nap. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established pot grown perennial from division.
