Acer japonicum 'Branford Beauty'

Full Moon Maple

Plant Type:

TREES

Acer japonicum ‘Branford Beauty’ (ex: Nickou) – is a beautiful, open upright tree with deeply incised foliage very reminiscent of some of the refined weeping, cut-leaf Acer palmatum forms. Each leaf is composed of even narrower, lacier fully incised lobes than A. japonicum ‘Green Cascade’ or ‘Aconitifolium’. Leaves turn brilliant red in the autumn before exposing the handsome framework made of smooth gray branches. This was a seedling selection made by Nick Nickou in Branford, Connecticut. Site ‘Branford Beauty’ in full to three-quarters sun planted in fertile soil. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established potted 'Branford Beauty', cutting grown.
