Clematis recta 'Purpurea'

Bush Clematis

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Clematis recta ‘Purpurea’ – is one of the most asked about plants in the large garden here at Quackin’ Grass in the spring. The dark red-purple foliage cloak is extraordinarily deep and rich. White terminal clusters of flowers in June are followed by curious seeds with a curved “tail” springing from each seed. As the season progresses the foliage becomes increasingly infused with green. And the once very upright plant begins to relax and splay open to eventual decumbency. C. recta ‘Purpurea’ is adaptable to sandy clay or loam and will be happy in much sun. Plants may be somewhat variable as these are seed grown but we will be selecting out those with the most resplendent purple foliage.
