Caulophyllum thalictroides

Blue Cohosh

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Caulophyllum thalictroides 6 available. I used to see Blue Cohosh when hiking in the Adirondacks. Best grown in rich, moist shade it will develop into a rounded matte-finish dome of thrice-compound leaves that are infused with dusky purple when germinating in spring. Its yellow flowers with some petals touched with brown-purple are not terribly conspicuous but the large, bright blue berries that occur later in the season are very showy. A mulch of leaf litter mimicking its native habitat is beneficial. Pot grown division.
