Arisaema triphyllum 'Mrs. French's Veined Form' (ex: Seneca Hill Perennials) - and though the name sounds vaguely unappetizing, even visually disturbing this is a quite interesting if not handsome form of our native Jack-in-the-pulpit. All foliage is netted in light greenish white at its veins. The spathes are green and white striped. The original seeds were passed out by Nick Nickou. So, there may actually be more than one strain of this form available. These are from a seed strain having come to us through Ellen Hornig. According to Ellen a high percentage of seedlings come true. We will be selecting out the most notably veined individuals and offering them to you. We believe this to be the very same Jack-in-the-Pulpit offered as 'Starburst'. We are offering them as two distinct cultivars presently until we know with certainty. An interesting point: we've been growing this plant for years; the corms never grow large nor do the green portions grow very tall. Yet 'Mrs. French's Veined Form' nonetheless flowers. We believe this to be a naturally smaller rendition of Jack-in-the-pulpit - certainly much smaller than many of the wild native counterparts we have all around us at QGN.
