Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Aralia cordata 'Sun King' – 'Sun King' is a brilliant yellow-leafed Spikenard. The compound leaves remain very bright yellow in sun. Leaves are differently sized on each foliage grouping making for interesting texture. All leaves are ovoid, serrated and ending in a point. Clusters of tiny white flowers blossom on large midsummer panicles. Small rich red-purple-black glossy fruits then develop in great abundance on the irregularly cone-shaped inflorescence in late season; the berries are stunning against the backdrop of golden foliage. In the north site 'Sun King' in at very least one-half day of sun planted in fertile but draining soil. In more shade 'Sun King' will turn bright greenish yellow.
