Actaea pachypoda - This attractive eastern North American woodlander flowers in late spring to early summer with squat white bottle brush flowers or gumdrops. The late season garden lights up with showy white berries each graced with a black spot which resemble doll's eyes which alludes to one of its common name, Doll's Eyes. The berries set upon red pedicels (or are these peduncles?) which underscore the white of the "eyes" making the gestalt of the fruiting event pop and show in the mostly to fully shaded haunts that White Baneberry prefers. Any modest woodland soil that drains between rains will satisfy its wants. Established perennial from seed or division.
