Tellima grandiflora 'Purpleteppich'

Fringe Cups

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Tellima grandiflora ‘Purpleteppich’ (ex: Jonathan Lehrer) – This is a selection of Fringe Cups with all of the attractive qualities of ‘Forest Frost’ plus the additional beauty of purple emerging foliage with purple flush remaining in the leaves through the growing season. The clump of virtually evergreen, hirsute leaves becomes wine colored in the autumn. This most handsome shade denizen grows up to 6" with the clump expanding to a width of 12". We haven't seen it bloom yet... I think this year... but I'll bet that that as with the foliage the flowers have more purple-red suffusion than green and white in the fringed bells. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Pot grown by division.
