Pennywort

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Hepatica nobilis "blue form" - Six-petaled blue flowers arise on wiry stems, each with a small green central "button" from which the white anthers radiate. Dainty, lovely - an established Pennywort will create an elfin bouquet in the early spring garden. Smooth-edged tri-lobed leaves, each lobe triangular in form are attractive through the growing season. They are reminiscent of stylized clubs, the quadrant in a deck of playing cards. Organic but draining soil in dappled to open shade. Add dolomitic limestone to the soil. Small enough for a trough this charmer is heart warming in the shade garden. Established pot grown division.
