Agave americana 'Marginata'

Plant Type:

Agave americana 'Marginata' (ex: Jonathan Lehrer) - 5 remaining. Beautiful succulent with blue-gray leaves broadly margined in creamy yellow. Dark brown spines along the leaf margins and one at the tip - gets me every time! Makes a great potted plant in the north... Were it that we could grow this outdoors. Sigh. It will remain smaller in a container than it would planted in the ground. Draining soil with some fertility and added lime in plenty of sun. Keep it drier in winter. Why aren't more folks growing these??? ...They're incredible! Pot grown offset.

In regards to autumn planting: Generally we caution that plants near and at the northern end of their climate range are best considered for spring planting so they have a chance to settle in and grab hold to their new environs. If you purchase a tricky plant now and it perishes in the winter please understand that we will not take responsibility. If you are uncertain be prudent, wait until spring.
