Iris

Plant Type:

POND & WETLAND PLANTS

Iris x pseudata 'Chance Beauty' – Gorgeous yellow iris flowers on tall stems in spring sport a reddish brown halo on each fall, the coloration etched in the veins reaches towards the outer edges of the falls as if a photo was snapped of the Mississippi Delta region from high above the stratosphere. The inner part of each fall between the halo and the standard is a slightly darker yellow than the outer part of each petal. Standards are short and a subtle creamy yellow. This is a sterile cross between I. ensata x pseudacorus with apparent hybrid vigor. Fans may reach a fantastic 4.5 feet and flower stems even taller! Site in full sun planted in fertile draining soil to even wetter, boggier conditions, 'Chance Beauty' is a quickly increasing perennial which would be equally at home used as a perennial garden beauty and as a large-scale ground cover or marginal plant. Genus Overview: Iris

Common Name: Iris

From small woodland species and tiny forms happy in a sunny trough to those that stretch to one's waist and higher irises are among the most beautiful and unique of herbaceous perennials. They come in an amazing array of colors with fans of foliage that provide textural contrast to other garden denizens long after the flowers have passed. None that we carry are especially common. All are beautiful in the full sun border with many adaptable to pond's edge. They want a home! Pot grown division unless otherwise indicated.
