Dioscorea batatas 'Variegata'

Cinnamon Vine

Plant Type:

BULBS

Dioscorea batatas 'Variegata' - This is the variegated form Cinnamon Vine or Chinese Yam. It forms a large tuber(s) and quickly which are edible. The leaves are glossy and very handsome. New growth proudly displays irregular streaking in cream which gradually disappears as the leaves mature. The variegation is now "wowser" and not always on all leaves; but it is noticeable when there. Stems often are a dark burgundy which contrast and underscore the attractiveness of Cinnamon Vine's leaves. A curious characteristic is that this interesting vine develops small tubers in the crotches of leaf axils above ground while expanding its potentially immense tubers underground. Full to mostly sunny siting planted in any fertile, draining soil. These may be pruned down... but not drastically unless sent dormant in the fall. If you live in NY state we cannot ship this handsome vine to you. Sorry. Pot grown tubers.
