Clivia

Plant Type:

BULBS

Clivia miniata - Good, old-fashioned Clivia or Bush Lily makes a great candidate for conservatory, home or greenhouse. It looks downright tropical where it can be grown outdoors, USDA zone 9 and south withstanding brief but infrequent dips down to 20F. Its broad, upright arching dark green tongues of leaves, rounded at the tips give away Clivia's adherence to the Amaryllidaceae clan. Large, brilliant red-orange flowers unfold atop strong stems usually in winter but may do so in spring on this easy care and handsome bulb. Ours are blooming size - a good deal. Fertile draining soil in early morning sun to diffused light near a cool window will keep it happy. You might get better flowering when the plants become pot bound. If you can't grow it outdoors get yours now for indoor winter beauty. Classic parlor. Established plant from pot-grown offset.
