Morus rubra 'Super Dwarf'

Red Mulberry

Plant Type:

TREES

Morus rubra ‘Super Dwarf’ – 'Super Dwarf' is a lousy name for what appears to be a truly cool miniature and very slow mounding form of Red Mulberry found as a witches broom by Tony Reznicek. We know little about it except that it will always remain small growing into a low dome to globose specimen sporting very attractive semi-glossy green mulberry leaves densely set on its woody framework. As it is so small it is possible that it may be stuck in genetic juvenility and not produce flowers or mulberries… we just don’t know! Site ‘Super Dwarf’ in a container, the rock garden or front of the border in mostly to fully sunny conditions planted in good draining soil. It would make a terrific bonsai subject. Spring planting is strongly recommended. In fact, it would probably be wise to grow this in a container for several years in the northern zone range before even considering planting it outdoors. The species is found from Ontario to Vermont south to Texas and Florida but as to the spot where this small form was discovered we do not know. Cutting grown.

From Michael M. (FLA) on 5.8.2013 - Ok Wayne you made me do it..I never write back to people for giving great service but you pushed me over the edge, not only did you reply to me on a Sunday night but it was a very ‘human’ e-mail and on top of that I got my order today!!! How much [can] a customer take!! Keep up the fantastic work, plants look great, even the small Morus but you see I live in S. Florida and summer is on its way so that thing will be taking off soon. Ok enough gushing over your fantastic service,,I am a happy customer, makes me almost want to live further north so I can use more of what you grow..almost. Thanks again Wayne. Good Work!!
