Plant Type:

GRASSES & GRASS-LIKE PLANTS

Miscanthus floridulus (syn. Miscanthus giganteus) - The Giant Miscanthus or Giant Eulalia Grass grows to an imposing 11 feet. It blooms in autumn with typical inflorescences which emerge like corn silk then fluff open to broad beige feathery structures atop the tall stems. Many who see it here question us as to its being a bamboo. Well, no... The bamboos are related to the grasses but this is no bamboo. It will make an imposing specimen plant or will form a seasonal screen when you play and plant connect the dots... the really big dots. In a grass border Giant Miscanthus will be a back of the garden focal point. In any use it's a stunner. Site in full sun planted in any decent garden soil that drains. A few handfuls of dolomitic limestone mixed into the planting hole will be beneficial. Giant Eulalia is a clumping grass which increases its girth annually. Division.
