Disanthus cercidifolius 'Rikyu'

Disanthus

Plant Type:

SHRUBS

Disanthus cercidifolius ‘Rikyu’ – An odd dwarf form of Disanthus cercidifolius with all parts shorter or smaller than its much larger brother. Potential red tones on the autumn foliage before the hard cold fells them to the ground. It will grow and mature to a handsome shrub at 4 to 6 feet wide and tall, unusual and interesting. Is “unusual and interesting” a euphemism for just plain ugly? Well, beauty after all is a very personal decision by each and every individual. Woodland soil to fertile organic soils. Place in dappled light to open shade. Look for the small red flowers hugging the woody stems in late winter to early spring. Cutting grown.
