Pachysandra procumbens 'Angola' - A very handsome selection of Allegheny Spurge replete with a mother lode of silvery gray markings and attractive, gentle serrations. In the early spring attractive and sweetly fragrant bottle brush flowers erupt just above the soil surface. You'll have to get down there with the pixies to sniff the scent. Ours in pots fill the greenhouse in which they are housed with their sweet fragrance in late winter. Just delicious. Late season brings brown-bronze and pewter tones as if ore had oxidized lasting through the winter. Though the species originates West Virginia to Louisiana and Florida 'Angola' escaped from Angola Prison in Louisiana, well actually just outside the front door of the correction facility... this escapee can hide out on the lam in my garden for as long as it chooses to do so.
