Crinum bulbispermum

Orange River Lily

Plant Type:

BULBS

Crinum bulbispermum - This is the hardiest of all the Orange River Lily clan. Though considered a tender bulb It has returned to us robustly n the spring in a south facing strip garden in USDA 5b/6. Personally, I am so pleased to have one of this fine group that will do for us without fuss in the north. Florets are rich dark pink with a concentration to deep, rich violet-red at the central vein on the backside of each petal with some exhibiting a bit of white at petal edges. The interior of the flowers upon opening are deep pink to purple-pink. When in flower these are showy and lovely. In addition the flowers are very fragrant – more so in the late day, evening into the night. Fertile, draining ground in sun. Established potted bulb harvested from the base of a specimen bulb.
