Vaccinium corymbosum 'Northland' – This compact cultivar flowers in May with multitudes of waxy white bells. This early-mid-season to mid-season producer forms copious blue berries ripen in summer among bright green glossed leaves. A happy healthy plant can produce as many as 12 pounds tasty berries. Sweet fruits are wonderful eaten fresh but may be frozen, used to make jam and classic blueberry pie. Fall foliage color tends to be more orange sometimes mixed with yellows. Red stems are handsome all through the winter. 'Northland' was developed in 1967 at Michigan State University. 'Northblue', 'Top Hat' and 'Polaris' are all good pollinator prospects. Full to mostly sunny exposure in fertile, acid soil. Established potted Highbush Blueberry, cutting grown.
