Cercis canadensis 'Ruby Falls'

Eastern Redbud

Plant Type:

TREES

Cercis canadensis 'Ruby Falls' (USPP22097P3) - A remarkable weeping Eastern Redbud resembling 'Covey', an exceptional weeper, but with one major difference: the new leaves are deep, rich red-purple. 'Covey' is actually one of its parents, the other is 'Forest Pansy'. Left to its own genetic disposition it will mound up some and spread out like a purple wave crashed onto the shorline. But staking it up from 5 to as much as 8 to 10 feet will provide small weeping tree that will be amazing. A tangle of stems will fountain down from the central axis hit the ground and spread out flat against it lke fountain. Vibrant pink-red flowers cluster all along stems prior to leaf emergence in spring. There is no appreciable fall color. The winter form of the plant is dynamic - a strong element in a smart design with dark brown stems. Fertile draining ground in mostly to fully sunny exposure.
