Dianthus arenarius 'Snow Flurry' - ​Saturated gray-blue mats of dense foliage hug the ground and give rise to pure white single flowers with fringed petals. Buds rise on stems from 6 to as tall as 10 inches. The fringed white flowers are lovely. The gray foliage looks great all season, a garden throw rug between 1 and 3 inches tall 'Snow Flurry' will also be beautifully utilized draping over a wall. It is in striking, dynamic contrast to the larger bold and architectonic Opuntia. Perfect in the full sun rock garden planted in average to impoverished soil it has been a doer for us at Quackin' Grass providing showy June flowers on a slowly ever-increasing span of fine evergreen foliage that is virtually weed-proof. A draw to bees and butterflies Dianthus arenarius 'Snow Flurry' is deer resistant. Its species common name is Sand Pink which should give you a clue as to its cultural prerequisite: full sun in a well-drained, gritty calcareous mix - be sure to add that dolomitic limestone!
