Corydalis elata - We love the Blue Corydalis with its deep blue sweetly fragrant flowers, though you will likely have to genuflect to appreciate their fine scent! This has been the best performer and most perennial of the many blue to purple flowering species and cultivars we have attempted. It has been present in our largest garden for 8 years, has slowly increased in breadth flowering annually with gusto. It begins blooming in June crossing over the July threshold. The soft foliage looks good all through the season when provided enough moisture. And in some autumns it actually turns butter yellow. It is closely related to C. flexuosa but this species is much better suited to areas in the east that are prone to hot and humid summers. Blue Corydalis is clumping with slow spread. Site in dappled to part shade planted in fertile soil that retains moisture between showers. Big pots worth the price. Established potted plant by divison.
