Mitchella repens f. leucocarpa

Partridge Berry

Plant Type:

BROADLEAF EVERGREEN SHRUBS

Mitchella repens f. leucocarpa - This is the white-berried form of Partridge Berry, a beautiful trailing, flat-to-the-ground evergreen subshrub. It usually forms persistent small bright red berries. Though Mitchella repens prefers rich, damp woodland soils it does demonstrate some drought tolerance as I’ve found it growing in drier settings as well. Partridge Berry will tolerate these conditions in the garden once well-established. Small round opposite leaves are dark glossy green with a lighter central vein. Small paired 4-petaled fragrant white flowers sometimes with a bare pink infusion give way to lovely white fruits. Site it in shade to part shade planted in moist draining soils on the acid side of the Ph spectrum. This may arrive uprooted from bulb pans. Cutting grown.
