Viola pedata 'Eco Artist Palette'
Bird's Foot Violet
Plant Type:
ARID LAND PLANTSViola pedata 'Eco Artist Palette' - This choice selection of Bird's Foot Violet comes from Don Jacobs of Eco Gardens in Georgia - a gentleman who has introduced some very fine plants, mostly eastern North American natives. 'Eco Artist Palette' is another and it's a beauty. The three lower petals are mostly white sometimes with purple spots showing, sometimes with a bare purple infusion. The little central golden eye is flanked by the upper two petals in a dark purple shade all atop green leaves that resemble birds' feet, hence the common moniker. The flowers occur in mid to late spring with some possible recurrence. The mound of leaves is clean and green all season long. Full sun in well-draining soil. Too much moisture retention will result in rot. Neat plant. Though this selection is of garden origin the species is naturally found in Maine to Ontario, south to Texas, east to Georgia. Established pot grown plant from division.
