Sanguinaria canadensis 'Venus'

Bloodroot

Plant Type:

BULBS

Sanguinaria canadensis 'Venus' (form. "pink form") - Deep pink buds open to display lovely light pink Bloodroot flowers and maturing to pale pink / white. The petal reverse maintains a deeper pink tint. Even leaves and stems are saturated with a touch of - dare I say it: pink... almost red. Remarkable and beautiful addition to the modestly growing list of Bloodroot selections, a beloved native. Sometimes wavy, sometimes more deeply cut and multi-lobed, the the bold leaves are very handsome in the summer garden; often the center-most lobe has an extended cock’s crest at the tip resulting in an added frill thereby lengthening the leaf as well as adding to its interest. The foliage contrasts nicely with ferns or Barrenworts – indeed any woodland denizen with softer foliage will contrast beautifully with the bold leaves of Bloodroot. This is a beautiful woodlander with slow to moderate spreading habit. Established potted Bloodroot from division.
