Calycanthus floridus

Carolina Allspice

Plant Type:

DECIDUOUS SHRUBS

Calycanthus floridus – Our form of Carolina Allspice is nicely fragrant with the strong scent of sweet fruity gum. Typical chocolate-red 2” flowers bloom for a long period beginning in late May/June and lasting into July in USDA zone 5b, earlier in southern locales. Our plant also dons a very respectable butter yellow in some autumns. A denser more rounded form will be achieved in full sun. Plant Calycanthus floridus in fertile moisture-retentive soil. Cutting grown.
