Yellow Bleeding Heart

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Dicentra scandens –  This is a vining species of Bleeding Heart with clusters of narrow yellow flowers dangling up and down the stems set among the gentle, tender and delicate leaves. It has an exceptionally long bloom season – essentially from Spring 'til frost reminiscent of the flowering tendency of its pink cousin, D. eximia - one of only a handful of straight species perennials that bloom with abandon all the growing season long. Hummingbirds like it. Site in morning sun, open shade or dappled light planted in fertile, constantly moist soil. Only two available. If to be planted in a northern zone cover thickly with mulch or await the spring shipping window.
