Begonia grandis 'Alba' - Instead of pink pendant begonia flowers Begonia grandis 'Alba' the summer bloom is white or white touched with baby pink. Large green leaves with some silver spotting when they first unfold, reminiscent of but larger than those of Angel Wing Begonia, emerge from tubers in mid June here. 'Alba' has been less robust here, slower to establish and often not growing as tall as its pink counterpart. But like its better known sibling Begonia grandis 'Alba' blooms until frost. If happy it will self-sow though it may not always come true from seeds. Site in morning sun to dappled shade planted in fertile, organic but draining soil. Remember where you site it as Begonia grandis 'Alba' emerges late from dormancy. Will arrive pruned back if ordered in autumn. Cutting grown.
