Syneilesis palmata 'Kikko'

Shredded Umbrella Plant

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Syneilesis palmata ‘Kikko’ – is reticulate variegated form of Shredded Umbrella Plant (Geez, do I ever dislike that common name!) The fuzzy peltate leaves expand into deeply cut lobes within a rounded outline. The glowing cream yellow leaves light the shade garden gradually become greener as the season progresses. The aster-like flowers in summer are not nearly as interesting as the leaves, however, Syneilesis palmata ‘Kikko’ does bloom in midsummer when most all woodlanders have already had their day in the shade. But we grow it for the exceptional bold foliage. This marvelous clumping perennial will settle happily into dry summer shade. This form was selected in Japan. Division.
