Sempervivum arachnoideum "mini" – A wonderful ground covering species small enough for a trough. This may be 'Rubrum' which only grows to about .5" high with a few rosettes approaching .75 inch diameter, most remaining smaller. This litte gem will trace the terrain upon which it grows. Commonly called the Cobweb Houseleek each basic light green rosette is burnished with dark red. Atop the tiny fleshy “leaves” is a cover of silvery cob webbing. Strands are densely concentrated at the centers of rosettes. It's a fantastic little plant that glows like fiber optics when the sun hits just so. Gorgeous in a trough, a collectors garden, among boulders in a sloping full sun rock garden or even in a pot where it will sparkle like the jewel it is. "Mini" is a moderate increaser in a densly clumping habit. This was sold to us many years ago as 'Rubrum' but we think that it was mis-labeled. Under any moniker this is a sweet, worthy succulent.
