Sempervivum 'Desert Bloom'
Hens and Chicks
Plant Type:
ARID LAND PLANTSSempervivum 'Desert Bloom' - A gray-green Hens and Chicks with a glaucous, powdery overlay and a subtle pink blush. As the outer, older fleshy leaves flatten and mature they pick up a deeper pink tint. And when cold weather comes 'Desert Bloom' turns lilac. This cultivar also exhibits water mark-like bands across the leaves formed by a protective coating know as epicuticular wax. Plant it in a pot, a rock garden, among boulders, atop a wall as edging or an element in a roof garden format... there are so many uses. Full sun in average to sandy, impoverished soil. Added limestone will be beneficial. Established potted Hens and Chicks from offset.
