Pinellia tripartita 'Angry Dragon' (Quackin' Grass Nursery selection) - Angry? How's about a Pinellia tripartita with a dark red-purple hood? This sport arose in a flat of 'Silver Dragon'. Not angry - just blushing with purple pride! The foliage apparently reverted and we would probably have culled it from production. But thankfully it flowered before we did so... and a darned good thing! The hood in red-purple caught the corner of my eye among the usual green-hooded flowers in the flat. I took three steps back, turned my head and looked squarely at this purple prize. As reversions of typical green dragons may occur we will ship only plants that have flowered demonstrating the worthy though mad difference! Now if we can only espy one with variegated leaves. Sigh. Site in moist fertile soil in woodland conditions to part sun. 'Angry Dragon' is offered by pot grown offset.
