Microbiota decussata

Siberian Arborvitae

Plant Type:

CONIFERS

Microbiota decussata - A very handsome rug forming conifer cloaked in refined scaly foliage set densely upon branched fanned sprays of branches. Dark green for most of the year they turn chocolate bronze in winter and are glorious with red or yellow-stemmed shrub Dogwood or gold-needled Chamaecyparis... create and have fun: use your remarkable imaginations. Another interesting and useful characteristic is that Siberian Arborvitae thrives in open shade though is tolerant of perhaps three-quarters of a day sun. Requiring good drainage Microbiota decussata will rot in soil that is too moisture-retentive or in low areas where wet collects. Exceptional hardiness for northern gardeners we are uncertain as to how this wonderful monotypic species will perform south of USDA zone 7... anyone know? Established pot grown plant from cutting.
