Lamium orvala
Balm-leaved Archangel
Plant Type:
SHADE PERENNIALSLamium orvala - Attractive heart-shaped green leaves are handsomely serrate. Pink-purple hooded flowers cluster in tiered whorls tiered expand and open rising on stems in late spring / early summer. Okay, say it three times quick: Balm-leaved Red Deadnettle. Or opt for an easier moniker, Giant Deadnettle, or a more beautiful label, Balm-leaved Archangel. We think this fine species is finer than its better known cousin, Lamium maculatum. A too often ignored woodlander that appreciates open shade to dappled light or even some morning sun, plant it in fertile, draining ground. Drought tolerant and deer resistant. Established potted Lamium orvala, cutting grown.
