Siberian Iris

Plant Type:

GRASSES & GRASS-LIKE PLANTS

Iris sibirica ‘Bluebird Kisses’ - From breeders Jan Sacks and Marty Schafer comes this lovely, very floriferous mid-season Siberian Iris. The color is simple blue but it is the form of each flower that sets this Siberian Iris apart. Broad, rounded and ruffled falls fountain away from standards which exhibit an unusual twisting form. The signals on each iris flower is bright milk white. With lots of flowering stalks this complex hybrid exhibits good vigor. The parentage is (Barefoot Boy x (((Jaybird X Sailor’s Fancy) x Riverdance) x ((Forrest McCord x Isabelle) x Careless Sally))) X Barefoot Boy – my, my, my... but Jan and Marty have been busy! As is typical of Siberian Iris the narrow green to blue-green leaf lances remain attractive all the growing season long. Full sun in fertile, draining soil. Pot grown from division.

Cultural requirements are simple but must be adhered to or plants are likely to languish, not perform and perhaps disappear from their special place in the garden. All of the cultivars we offer require a very nutritious loam rich in organic material preferably with a blend of composted animal manure and worm castings. Full sun exposure with your Siberian Iris in this deep moisture retaining soil will spell success. Please don't attempt circumvention with salt-based chemical fertilizers. Give them the rich, organic soil they require.
