Idesia polycarpa

Igiri Tree

Plant Type:

TREES

Idesia polycarpa (FEMALE) - The Igiri Tree forms amazing pendulous racemes like grapes which turn bright orange-red in October from spring greenish yellow clustered flowers. The flowering/fruiting raceme can range from nearly 8 to nearly 12 inches long. The fruits mature as temperatures cool and days grow shorter to black. Igiri Tree is dioecious requiring both male and females for fruit. Ours is femaile. They are not self-fertile. Alternate cordate leaves are attractive but offer no appreciable autumn color... the fruit takes care of that! Full sun to mostly sunny sites planted in fertile, moist soil. Adaptable to Ph. Cutting grown.
