BULBSGladiolus ‘Old Fort’ – is a “big ole’ boy” that can attain a whopping 7’! With shocking brilliant, fluorescent deep coral-red flowers it is simply a show stopper, subjectively garish in the minds of some… When in bloom we do stare at it in wonderment – it’s hard to take your eyes off of it! Its main flush for us is in July (June in warmer climes) with some possible repeat flowering as the season moves along. This one came from Tony Avent of Plant Delights in N. C. who spotted it road side in Asheville, N. C. Upon espying 'Old Fort' we’re all very fortunate and relieved that when Tony slammed on the brakes he didn’t continue traveling through the windshield. Seat belts do save lives. Tall and narrow with gradual increase. These may arrive potted or bare root.

Genus Overview: Gladiolus
Common Name: Glad
Gladiolus is the well-known florist cut flower. These among others planted at Quackin’ Grass have demonstrated surprising hardiness. We no longer dig them out in the late season, bagging them for a winter out-of-the-ground experience placed in a cool corner in the basement; rather, we leave them in the south facing foundation garden on the south side of our home where they are flourishing. Plant them in full sun in any decent, well-drained garden soil. All of the following glads are offered as multiple potted corms or sent bareroot at our discretion. But one purchase will always equate to multiple corms.
