Dicentra sp. 'modest runner'

Bleeding Heart

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Dicentra sp. “modest runner” - We;ve had this wonderful and demure Bleeding Heart in one of our shade gardens for years. We haven't a clue from whence it had come nor do we have a name for it. I've looked on-line and have not found a match for it. If any of you know this species please do contact us. It truly is a modest runner never moving far from the mother plant via stolons (we're guessing). It sprouts sporting blue foliage. The florwers are white on the original plant. One year it sprouted a new stem with little pale pink flowers, a gentle color also lovely above the blue foliage. We love this sweet shade lover. Average woodland soil is satisfactory. Open shade but may very well be adaptable to dappled light. Be certain to plant it such that it is not over-whelmed by neighboring garden denizens.
