Callirhoe alacaeoides 'Logan Calhoun'

Wine Cups

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Callirhoe alcaeoides 'Logan Calhoun' (also listed as Callirhoe involucrata var. lineariloba 'Logan Calhoun') - from the buds open 2.5-inch white cupped flowers for week after week in summer. White may be just flushed with some pink especially towards the bases of petals. For those who do not cotton to the magenta purple of Wine Cups this version may provide acceptable relief. Green to gray-green deep-cut geranium-like leaves stretch from 30 to 42 inches in length into a large mat following the contours of the ground in each growing season. They can be cut back late season or the following spring prior to emergence of new growth. Good butterfly plant. Site in full, blazing sun planted in scrabbled, sandy very well-drained average soil. The addition of dolomitic limestone at planting time may be fortifying. Established plant from pot grown seedling.
