Begonia x 'Smooch'

Begonia

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Begonia x 'Smooch' – The darker pink buds like small clam shells open into lighter pink begonia flowers on this exceptional hybrid. Flowers, each possibly achieving more than 2 inches wide, dangle gracefully from long pink flower stems (pedicels) beginning in summer and continuing 'til frost over a mounded foil of glossy green leaves. Leaves are broad and somewhat heart-shaped with a gentle corrugation. Begonia grandis 'Heronswood Pirouette' is one of the parents with speculation that the other parent is B. chitoensis. Part sun to open shade in fertile, draining soil. This beautiful begonia comes to the gardening world from Ozzie Johnson from Georgia. A winter mulch may be beneficial at the northern range... just be sure to pull the blanket up in May before the new growth emerges. Will arrive pruned back if ordered in autumn. Cutting grown.
