Agave americana 'Marginata'

Agave

Plant Type:

ARID LAND PLANTS

Agave americana 'Marginata' (ex: Jonathan Lehrer) - Beautiful succulent with blue-gray leaves broadly margined in creamy yellow. Dark brown spines along the leaf margins and one at the tip - gets me every time! Makes a great potted plant in the north... Were it that we could grow this outdoors. Sigh. It will remain smaller in a container than it would planted in the ground. Draining soil with some fertility and added lime in plenty of sun. Keep it drier in winter. Why aren't more folks growing these??? ...They're incredible! For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Pot grown offset.
