Klasea bulgarica (aka Serratula bulgarica) - White thistle-like flowers open on branched stems in summer atop a bold, imposing perennial. Large leaves are glossy serrated lances in gray-green. Fairly attractive seed heads decorate the stems in autumn. The Bulgarian Saw-wort will be well-employed in the larger perennial border, in a meadow garden, with grasses and late season composites. Klasea bulgarica will be a pollinator magnet - all manner of bees, butterflies and other nectar lovers will hone in on this fine plant. Though we have this gorgeous perennial listed as hardy in USDA zones 6 to 8 we are uncertain as this is not commonly found or employed in American gardens; in that, we would not be surprised to find it hardy in zone 5 and at the opposite spectrum into 9; but we don't know. Full sun in average to fertile, draining soil. Established potted perennial from seed or division.
