Sanguinaria canadensis 'Snow Cone'

Bloodroot

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Sanguinaria canadensis 'Snow Cone' - Open double white flowering form sports 18 to 25 petals in April. Petals set side by side in a lateral ring rather like that of a single daisy unlike 'Multiplex' whose petals set up like a double rose or camellia. Flowers measure 3 inches diameter or more, blossoming for a long time and in mass profusion at about five and one-half inches tall. An established clump is low-domed at time of flowering and completely covered in gorgeous bloom suggesting the moniker, 'Snow Cone'. Leaves stretch after flowering on this laudable recent selection. The foliage is bold, interesting and remains handsome all season long providing decidedly interesting leaf architecture. A fertile form, get it while you can. Site in shade to dappled sun planted in fertile, moisture retaining to draining soil. Organic soils are best. Bloodroot is deer resistant. Your heart will be less so. Established pot grown division.
