Tiarella cordifolia var. collina (syn. T. wherryi)
Wherry's Foamflower
Plant Type:
SHADE PERENNIALSTiarella cordifolia v. collina (syn. T. wherryi) - Wherry’s Foamflower forms a non-running clump. This varietal form, also known as Heartleaf Foamflower, forms olive-green leaves loosely resembling small, matte-finish maple leaves covered in fine hairs with maroon coloration following the major leaf veins. Lovely spikes of white flowers with a pink flush may stretch as tall as 12 inches occur en masse in spring, April to May. This terrific, potentially evergreen woodlander picks up dark red tones when the temperatures cool. In sheltered siting from harsh winter winds it will remain evergreen. Wherry's Foamflower prefers duff around the crowns as the roots reach for richer, more substantial substrata. Pot grown Division.
